Pluris was founded in 2001 as a privately held oil and gas company under the name Petrogen. Petrogen acquired various hydrocarbon assets in the United States through the course of 2002 and became a publicly listed Company on the OTC Bulletin Board by 2003. Petrogen raised capital and commenced development operations in 2004; by 2005, Petrogen achieved successful discoveries and commenced first production from its two core natural gas fields in the Texas Gulf Cost.
Following the devastating impact of the 2005 hurricane season in the Texas Gulf Coast, Petrogen was renamed Pluris as part of a strategic shift to position in Latin America. Later in the year, Pluris commenced divestiture of itsUnited States assets and won the bid to acquire Argentine E&P company San Enrique Petrolera S.A. Most recently, Pluris secured the exclusive rights to purchase the Cerro Negro block in the Chubút Province (Golfo San Jorge Basin), Argentina as well as securing the exclusive rights to acquire an Argentine oil and gas development and production company with substantial concessions primarily located in the Neuquén Basin, Rio Negro Province, Argentina.
